NEWBURY PARK, CA (BRAIN) Friday July 27 2012 10:29 AM MT—Giant has hired Pearl Izumi co-founder Stan Mavis to run its global clothing and gear business.

Mavis co-founded Pearl Izumi in the USA in 1988, and also served as president of Sugoi for four years.

“I am really excited about the fantastic product and brand-building opportunity with Giant,” Mavis said. “I have been fortunate to be associated with some great brands in the past, but none of these compare to Giant in terms of global vision, scope and opportunity.”

Mavis will be based in Seattle and will report to Bonnie Tu, executive vice president and CFO of the Giant Global Group.

“With his terrific background and experience, Stan is the perfect candidate to help us grow our Giant and Liv/giant Rider Gear business,” said Tu. “We are thrilled to have him as part of the team.”

The company said Mavis' initial focus is on solidifying the current product offerings. Beyond that, he will help Giant develop a deeper line of Rider Gear products to complement the brand’s growing strength in the bicycle and components categories.
