Cackalacky Cup

For 2007, we would like to introduce the Cackalacky Cup. We have taken input from our guests of the past six events to make this year the best ever. Neal Boyd, of Charlotte Sports Cycling, has come aboard to help us grow the event. Neal had been the largest cycling promoter in the Charlotte region for years due to the high caliber events that he puts on. With all of the changes, a new name was in order, hence the Cackalacky Cup. While the the roots of the work Cackalacky are obscure, it has become a nickname of affection for those of us from the Carolinas.

Each year, we invite special guests who usually have roots that go deep into the history of mountain biking. This year, we are proud to host Otis Guy, Paul Sadoff and Captain Dondo.

Otis is one of the original Mt. Tam riders and holds the 3rd fastest Repack run. He is also an accomplished frame builder and member of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. For more details, check out his web site, MBHOF bio and Repack results.

Captain Dondo is a long time contributor to various bike publications including the recent issues of Dirt Rag magazine as well as a two time Idatabike participant.

Paul has been full time frame builder for nearly 20 years under the Rock Lobster moniker. Cool projects have include making many of Mike Ahrens full suspension designs, early single speed mountain bikes, "Nontragers" as well as his specialty, kick-butt cyclo-cross bikes. Paul is a current Hall of Fame nominee. Check out our Rock Lobster history page and the official Rock Lobster web site for more details.
