Florida festival moved to Tampa • Spy signs Trebon • Rapha makes Olympic deliveries • Castelli sponsors Cannondale-CXW.com team

TAMPA BAY, FL (BRAIN) Wednesday July 25 2012 12:57 PM MT—The South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers is moving its annual bicycle festival, the Bicycle Bash, into downtown Tampa this year. The show has been held in St. Petersburg and Hillsborough County in previous years.

The 2012 SWFBUD Bicycle Bash Festival, presented by ISM bike saddles and co-sponsored by the city of Tampa, is scheduled for Nov. 4 at Contanchobee Park.

The sixth annual event celebrates bicycling in Tampa Bay and is put on by SWFBUD's 10 bike shops: ABC Bicycles, Bicycle Outfitters, Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium, Chainwheel Drive, Oliver's Cycle Sports, Trek Store of Tampa and Clearwater, University Bicycle Center, Street Fit 360, Velo Champ and Trek Store of St. Petersburg.

The League of American Bicyclists is teaming up with SWFBUD to hold a bike summit in Tampa the day after the Bicycle Bash, Nov. 5 from 1-4pm.


Rusch auctions race bike to benefit Idaho nonprofit

KETCHUM, ID (BRAIN) Wednesday July 25 2012 1:01 PM MT—Endurance mountain biker Rebecca Rusch has put her 2011 Specialized carbon fiber FATE mountain bike up for auction to benefit the Wood River Bicycle Coalition, a group devoted to bikes and bike culture in Rusch’s hometown of Ketchum, Idaho.

Rusch rode the bike to her third straight victory in the Leadville 100 in 2011.

The Wood River Bicycle Coalition advocates for a bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly community throughout Idaho’s Wood River Valley. In the summer of 2008 the group helped the area achieve a “silver medal” Bicycle Friendly Community status from the League of American Bicyclists.

The auction ends July 30. On Wednesday morning the leading bid was for $3,250.


Spy signs Ryan Trebon

CARLSBAD, CA (BRAIN) Wednesday July 25 2012 1:07 PM MT—Spy Performance has signed mountain bike and cyclocross champion Ryan Trebon.

Rapha sponsors London bicycle delivers during Olympics

PORTLAND, OR (BRAIN) Wednesday July 25 2012 1:09 PM MT—Clothing brand Rapha is collaborating with Control Courier Collective to begin a daily London bike courier service during the Olympics.

Rapha will be delivering all orders in Central London by bike courier at no extra cost to the customer.

The fleet of Rapha couriers will be wearing specially-branded Classic Jerseys and using exclusively designed courier bags, accented with Rapha hi-vis pink.

After the Olympics normal service will resume but Rapha’s popular Fast Friday bike courier service will be extended allowing London customers to choose same-day delivery every weekday.

Anyone who orders during the Olympics will be entered into a competition to win a one-off, custom courier bag designed especially for Rapha.


Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com team to use Castelli USA clothing

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) Wednesday July 25 2012 1:11 PM MT—Castelli USA announced that the Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com team has chosen to ride Castelli apparel for the 2012/13 cyclocross season.

The team will wear Castelli clothing for training and racing, including an all-new cyclocross version of the SanRemo Speedsuit.
