Monza Imports to distribute CSG in Australia

Published March 3, 2014

SYDNEY, Australia (BRAIN) — Dorel’s Cycling Sports Group said it is transitioning operations of its Australia business to Monza Imports, an action sports distributor based there. The change is effective May 1. Monza will create a new team as part of its bicycle division to exclusively market and distribute Cannondale, GT, Schwinn, Mongoose, Sugoi and Guru, Dorel announced.

Monza will add staff where required but will also seek to retain CSG employees, the company said.

“Cycling Sports Group is excited to build on our strong foundation in Australia by joining forces with Monza, a great partner who can help our brands reach their full potential in the market,” said Peter Woods, interim president of Dorel’s recreational and leisure segment. “I’d like to thank the CSG Australia team for their hard work and commitment to our brands and IBD customers as we built our business in the region over the last several years.”

Monza Imports distributed GT in Australia from 2006 to 2010 and currently services more than 700 IBDs. As operations transition to Monza, the CSG brands will be integrated into Monza’s supply chain management systems for faster response to market demands, Dorel said in a press release. Monza will also focus on a wide range of brand-building activities at the retail level that will benefit dealers.

“Monza Imports will make significant financial investments in the CSG brands and the independent bicycle dealer channel that will benefit our customers and further the objectives of Cycling Sports Group in the region,” said Stephen Robinson, general manager of the bicycle division for Monza Imports. “With this partnership, Monza is on the path to be the largest bicycle wholesaler in Australia, and Cannondale, GT, Mongoose and Schwinn will be its flagships brands.”
