POC auctions custom Cervélos to benefit spinal injury cause

Published June 17, 2014

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Protective gear maker POC is auctioning four custom Cervélo bikes to benefit the Spinalis Foundation, a Sweden-based organization that supports research and treatment development for spinal cord injuries.

The auction is four two Cervélo RCA road bikes, each valued at $20,800 and two P5 time trial bikes, each valued at $19,200. Auction sponsors include Cervélo, Fizik, 3T, HED, Shimano, and TRP. There is a size 54 and size 58 of each model.

Besides benefiting the charity, the auctions are intended to call attention to POC's entry into the road bike category and its AVIP line of helmets and cycling clothes.

"The bikes have spent most of their time being showcased at the POC headquarters in Stockholm and we have become connected to them," said POC CEO and founder Stefan Ytterborn. "We are really pleased to do an auction for an important cause, and it is with mixed feelings that the bikes are leaving for someone, somewhere. Whoever you are, please promise to take good care of these gems."

The POC AVIP Bike Charity Auction runs June 17 through July 1.
