EDEWECHT, Germany (BRAIN) — The German distributor Sport Import is investing in the two-year-old carbon wheel company Knight Composites, and will distribute the brand throughout continental Europe.

Knight was launched at the 2014 Eurobike show. It was founded by CEO Beverly Lucas, a former Felt Bicycles and Enve executive; Jim Pfeil, the founder and original owner of Reynolds Composites; and Kevin Quan, a former Cervélo designer and the head of an independent design firm that worked on frames for clients including Accell Group, BH, Parlee and NeilPryde.

Michael Müllmann, the founder and managing director of Sport Import, said, “Sport Import is excited to become an investing partner of the Knight Composites brand. With over 50-plus years of experience in wheel and composites technology, Knight’s commitment to producing high quality products and the fastest wheels are a perfect match for our organization. Our entire staff is very enthusiastic to assist the IBD in stocking the entire Knight Composites line not only in Germany, but throughout Europe."

Lucas said, “I first met Michael and his team at Sport Import over 15 years ago when working for Felt Bicycles and we continued to stay in touch during my years at Enve Composites. Michael and I had just started talking about working together with Knight when Enve sold to Amer Sports, so realistically the timing and circumstances could not have been better.

“We think along the same lines and are committed to building a truly global company manufacturing aerodynamic, well-constructed third generation products that are relevant to today’s changing market, backed by a truly family-oriented bunch of cycling-mad people. I’m excited to build upon our relationship and introduce Knight Composites to cycling enthusiasts throughout Europe.”
