WFSGI, Bike Europe to hold conference in June

Published February 23, 2017

The Netherlands and Switzerland (BRAIN) — The World Federation for the Sporting Goods Industry and Bike Europe are planning a conference for June 7-8 in Porto, Portugal, that will focus on consumer centricity and increasing speed to market for the bike and e-bike industries.

As the bicycle industry shifts its focus from dealers to consumers and online sales continue to grow rapidly for all sorts of products, consumer centricity is the prerequisite for new business models triggering a switch to omnichannel distribution strategies, the WFSGI and Bike Europe said in a press release. The World Cycling Forum will address the consequences of the trend to consumer centricity.

The conference will have a series of experts who will put internet browsing consumers into perspective and help explain what their future decisions will do to the bike retail sector. It will also examine whether reshoring is viable as the need for speed to market also changes production.

Organizers are inviting managers and decision makers of bicycle and e-bike manufacturers in Europe, the U.S. and Asia; purchasing, procurement, supply chain directors and managers; CEOs, COOs and managing directors of P&A manufacturers and distributors in Europe, U.S. and Asia; decision makers at retail chains, retail cooperatives, retail franchisers as well as industry associations and stakeholders.

The conference will also include a small exhibition highlighting Bike Value Portugal and other companies presenting their initiatives on reshoring production from Asia to Europe.

The cost to attend is 850 euros for WFSGI members; 1,050 euros for Bike Europe subscribers, and 1,250 euros for all others. All three include a dinner cruise and two lunches.
