Published April 23, 2013

TEMPE, AZ (BRAIN) — Pivot Cycles launched its Firebird 27.5 at the Sea Otter Classic. The new model is a larger-wheeled version of the popular Firebird long-travel bike.

"The new Firebird 27.5-inch model takes everything that's great about the Firebird and makes it better. It's definitely a favorite around our office," said Pivot president and CEO Chris Cocalis, "Within a line of very versatile bikes it stands out because it really is a quiver-of-one. It rewards and inspires confidence for an aggressive rider."

The new version has a slacker headtube, but retains the original's low bottom bracket height. The frame is spec'd with the Fox Racing Shox 34, a 160mm travel 27.5-specific fork.

It features 6.6-inches (167mm) of rear travel with Pivot's dw-link suspension design. It has a full 1.-inch head tube with custom Pivot angled headset design, ISCG O5 mounts included for single ring and chain guide compatibility. It has 142mm rear spacing with 12mm through axle and 160mm post-mount dropouts.

The new Firebird 27.5 will begin shipping in May. It also will be part of Pivot's nationwide demo tour.
