EUGENE, OR (BRAIN) — Abbey Bike Tools is now offering a single-sided, Team Issue, version of its Crombie cassette lock ring tool. The Team Issue Crombie is available in Shimano- or Campagnolo-compatible versions and uses a hollow 1/2-inch stainless steel handle, instead of the larger diameter, solid handles used on Abbey's dual-sided Crombie tools, which are still available.
The company said the single-sided, lighter, tool was made at the request of World Tour team mechanics. The Team Issue tool also has a more highly polished finish than Abbey's other Crombie models.
MSRP is $45.
Also shown in the photo is Abbey's Whip-It chain whip. The Whip-It features a single piece of chain, instead of the more common two-chain design on other tools. The company said this eliminates a frequent failure point. The round stainless steel 12-inch handle is hollow, allowing a Crombie cassette ring tool to be stored inside. MSRP is $40.
