Published January 5, 2016

OLATHE, Kan. (BRAIN) — Garmin is launching a new "in-sight display" for cyclists at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. The Varia Vision attaches to cycling sunglasses and displays data from compatible devices, including ride data from Garmin Edge computers, smart notifications from phones, turn-by-turn directions, and warnings from Garmin's Varia rearview radar system.

The Varia Vision will retail for $399.99 and will begin shipping in the first quarter this year.

"We're extremely excited to announce the next device in our line of innovative Varia cycling awareness products – the Varia Vision in-sight display," said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. "Cyclists can now easily view their data and receive alerts during a ride without needing to take their eyes off the road ahead."

The device promises eight hours of always-on battery life and a glove and wet-weather friendly touch panel to allow the user to rotate between data displays. Its can attach on either arm of the glasses with an adjustable arm and eyepiece for optimum display positioning. It weighs about one ounce (29.7 grams). An integrated ambient light sensor and color display ensure readability in all conditions.

At CES, Garmin is also announcing updates to its Fenix 3 multi-sport watches and the launch of the new Tactix Bravo multi-sport watch for fitness training and outdoor navigation.
