SealSkinz releases thinner, lighter waterproof socks

Published September 8, 2017

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (BRAIN) — SealSkinz will debut its new Super Thin and Super Thin Pro Socks at the upcoming Interbike show. The new socks are 33 percent lighter than SealSkinz' original "thin" socks due to a new eco-friendly bamboo inner layer, new outer yarns, and an improved knitting pattern.

"The new Super Thin Socks complete our sock line and provide key depth to our spring-summer assortment," said Brendan Collins, SealSkinz USA's national accounts manager.

"It's been fun to put these new socks into the hands of buyers and see how surprised they are when I tell them that they still come with our lifetime guarantee and are 100 percent waterproof and breathable."

All Super Thin Socks are constructed with SealSkinz' proprietary Stretchdry technology, a fusing of two layers above and below a waterproof and breathable membrane. The Super Thin Pro Socks additionally have Hydrostop silicone-free elastic taping to reduce water ingress at the cuff, elasticated ankles, insteps, and cuffs, and are available in Blue/White, Red/White/Blue, Neon Yellow/Black, and Coral/Red color combinations, as well as Black/Grey.

There are four styles of Super Thin Sock, encompassing two lengths and two levels of performance. They are: the Super Thin Ankle (MSRP $32), Super Thin Mid (MSRP $35), the Super Thin Pro Ankle with Hydrostop (MSRP $45) and the Super Thin Pro Mid sock with Hydrostop (MRSP $50).

SealSkinz Super Thin Socks are designed for activities including road riding, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, climbing, rafting, camping, and boating.

The company said the socks are impervious to wind, dust, and sand, expanding their use to hot and dry areas. The new bamboo lining is soft and comfortable, and absorbs and releases up to four times more moisture than cotton, the company said. Bamboo is also anti-microbial, which reduces the build-up of odors over time.
