MONTEREY, CA (BRAIN)—The Bicycle Leadership Conference, April 13-15 in Monterey, CA, has already drawn more retail attendees than in any of the past four years, including seven REI staff members.

A promotional mailing to 2,000 stores this week in partnership with Bicycling Magazine will surely raise the number further.

Jeff Selzer, general manager of Palo Alto Bicycles, has attended the BLC the past three years, and is signed on again for 2010. "I get insight into the industry I could never get at Interbike or from talking to fellow dealers.

"It's a sneak peek into what my suppliers are thinking for 2012 and beyond," Selzer added. "Not on the product, but more the state of the industry. The insights I get at BLC have really helped me make better long-range plans for the store."
