Guru Bikes Teams Up with QBP

Published August 5, 2008

MONTREAL, Quebec (BRAIN)—Guru Bikes and Quality Bicycle Products have agreed to team up for the next several years.

As of September 2008, the world’s leading distributor of bicycle parts and accessories will be fulfilling complete bike orders for the Canadian custom bike manufacturer. The partnership represents the latest, most significant move in Guru’s strategic realignment for the future.

"Partnering with QBP makes absolute sense for us," said Tony Giannascoli, president of Guru Bikes. "It facilitates our growth as it allows us to focus on what we do best, which is make high quality bikes one cyclist at a time, and puts our parts business in the hands of the industry leader.”

“QBP’s partnership with Guru will offer dealers the simplicity of a pre-spec Guru bike with customizable options,” said Brad Crosby, QBP’s kit program manager who coordinates DreamCycle and frame referral programs. “We want to make this a seamless transition for Guru dealers so they have the option of calling Guru or using our DreamCycle software to order bikes.”

As part of the agreement, QBP will be tapping into its vast inventory to supply Guru’s dealer base with a selection of bike components that is significantly broader to that currently offered by Guru. In conjunction with an order for a Guru frame, retailers will be able to order a customized assortment of corresponding wheels and parts through QBP’s state-of-the art DreamCycle program.

DreamCycle will be pre-loaded with Guru’s recommended bike specs, making it easy for dealers to use the program as an interactive selling and ordering tool. The complete bike will subsequently be shipped by QBP to the dealer. This arrangement is expected to maximize component availability and accelerate turnaround times.
