Published November 18, 2008

SEATTLE, WA (BRAIN)—Nuun has hired Tim McGee in the newly formed position of vice president of sales and marketing.

McGee comes to Nuun with 20-plus years of beverage sales and marketing experience at Pepsi. McGee’s key responsibilities as vice president of sales and marketing at Nuun will be to develop and drive expansion of the sports specialty market, as well as identify and implement sales strategies in a more mainstream retailer base.

Kicking off his career at Procter and Gamble, McGee joined Pepsi in 1986 and came up through the ranks on all aspects of the business to focus on driving brand sales growth for the Western U.S. region in food and grocery channels. He also achieved strategic business objectives related to the development of non-carbonated beverages in the highest growth categories in the market. Most recently, McGee was driving brand development for local water company, Talking Rain.

“Nuun is at an exciting point. We’ve proven the concept that consumers are looking for a way to get electrolytes in a beverage without the sugars of typical sports drinks or the waste of plastic bottles that aren’t reusable,” said Nuun founder and chief executive officer Tim Moxey. “We already have some of the best elite athletes in the world using our products but each day we’re amazed at the increase in our customer base—consumers contacting us to talk about how they use our products.

"McGee will play a crucial role in both developing these new markets and helping Nuun expand to reach this broader customer base and open up the category," he added.
