LAUGHLINTOWN, PA (BRAIN)—Speedgoat Bicycles, Inc., a leading Internet retailer of bicycles, has appointed Don Belt its chief operating officer.

Belt brings more than 20 years of corporate management experience, including 15 years with ServiStar and True Value, and president/chief executive officer of Internet-centric start up procurement service provider, MRO Direct.

His first assignment will be to establish the management and operational processes within the company to support the scalability objectives of Speedgoat Bicycles.

“Don has a solid track record generating sales growth and developing operational excellence,” said Chris Currie, president/chief executive officer of Speedgoat Bicycles, Inc. “We are delighted to add an executive of his caliber to the team and we look forward to his expertise and leadership as we focus aggressively on establishing more efficient processes and establishing scalability that can support the sales growth opportunities we see in the industry.”

Belt will have operational responsibility for Speedgoat Bicycles, reporting directly to Currie. He will be actively involved in strategic and financial planning, process analysis, information systems, and the integration of customer service and procurement.

“As someone who, for many years, has been responsible for business development and operations, I am excited to be part of a company focused on the high end of the bicycle industry,” Belt said. “I’m confident that by focusing on developing more efficient processes, enhancing our Web site, and strengthening our customer services, we will be able to develop the scalability to grow our segment of the bicycle business.”
