FLETCHER, NC (BRAIN)—Cane Creek has hired Chris Strout as its new director of domestic sales. Strout will be responsible for championing Cane Creek’s dealer and distributor initiatives in the U.S. market.

“I am excited to have Chris on board, his enthusiasm and business acumen is an asset to Cane Creek and the customers we serve,” said Peter Gilbert, Cane Creek vice president of sales. “With the smart investments we’ve made in our team this year I feel Cane Creek is poised to do some pretty special things in 2010 and beyond.”

Strout had been communications manager at World Bicycle Relief.

"My daughter just turned 1, and over the past year my wife and I realized that we want to raise her outside the urban jungle of Chicago," Strout said in an email to friends. "So I put out the word, and unlike in Vegas, came back lucky: as of this weekend, we're headed to Asheville, NC.

"I wanted to thank you for your support of World Bicycle Relief," he added. "It's due to the willingness of folks like you to spread the message that WBR has built a such a strong presence."

In other news, Eric Smith was hired internally to manage Cane Creek’s purchasing department. “We were very pleased that Eric chose to pursue a career path in our purchasing department,” said Scott Sonnone, Cane Creek general manager. “His experience working with advanced purchasing systems as well as domestic and foreign suppliers is paying dividends for the company in a big way.”
