Campy Launches Purchase Program

Published July 7, 2010

CARLSBAD, CA (BRAIN)—Campagnolo North America launched the brand’s first employee and industry purchase programs this week.

“We have gotten tons of requests for this. Literally, our phone rings every day,” said Tom Kattus, general manager for Campagnolo North America.

The purchase program for shop employees will be administered by Campagnolo North America but purchases will be fulfilled through its distributor partners.

Campagnolo North America will extend the same discount—15 percent below wholesale—to industry employees and will manage and fulfill those orders. The discount applies only to complete group sets, and purchases are limited to one groupset and one set of wheels per employee, per year.

Kattus said he hopes the employee purchase program will increase familiarity with Campagnolo at the shop level.

“The younger generation of shop employees doesn’t know Campagnolo anymore. Campagnolo has been out of reach for them because the price points are so high. We’ve been able to get our OEM spec in very high-end shops with team replica bikes, but we really need to increase visibility at the OEM level and get some visibility on shop floors,” Kattus said.

Kattus said the program will coincide with other dealer and grassroots demo programs Campagnolo will launch in North America this year. “We’re trying to create a groundswell from the bottom up,” he said.
