Roy De Guzman of Brooklyn, NY—a BMX rider—claimed first place in the "Bicycling Magazine Bike Repair Challenge, sponsored by Park Tool" on Dec. 8 at Sid's Bikes in NYC.

In the final round, De Guzman (second from left) assembled a road bike from a travel case in 9:15, beating out two other finalists. For his quick wrenching skills, De Guzman took home a trio of prizes from Park Tool worth more than $800, and a $500 gift certificate to Sid's Bikes.

The event was in support of the newly released "Bicycling Complete Guide to Bicycle Maintenance & Repair," published by Rodale. Serving as judges for the competition were Bicycling editor in chief Peter Flax (second from right), BikeSnob NYC blogger Eben Weiss (far left), and Park Tool marketing director Bill Armas (far right).
