Volkswagen partners with Bikes Belong • Winter Teva Games to feature freeride bike events • Jett/Declare Custom appoints four new reps • Tioga sponsors USA Cycling's BMX junior development camps

HERNDON, VA (BRAIN) Jan 26, 15:15 MT—Volkswagen of America has entered a two-year deal with Bikes Belong to develop biking-friendly communities, foster healthy lifestyles and create a cleaner environment.

Volkswagen will donate vehicles and funding to support three Bikes Belong advocacy and urban planning initiatives: Peopleforbikes.org, Safe Routes to School National Partnership (SRTSNP) and Bicycling Design Best Practices.

“Volkswagen’s commitment to environmental sustainability extends beyond our fuel-efficient vehicles and company practices,” said Jonathan Browning, president and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America. “We are extremely proud to be partnering with Bikes Belong to encourage biking and ensure that people of all ages can safely share the road, saving fuel and reducing pollution and traffic congestion.”

Winter Teva Games feature freeride bike events

GOLETA, CA (BRAIN) Jan 26, 14:56 MT—Next month's inaugural Winter Teva Games in Vail, Colorado, will feature the only winter freeriding events in North America.

Invited athletes will compete in the Teva Best Trick competition, the Teva Dual Slalom Downhill and the Teva On-Snow Bike Crit.

The winter games are co-sponosred by Eddie Bauer. Beside the bike events, the games include mixed climbing, Nordic and telemark skiing, ski mountaineering and snowshoe racing, with a total of $60,000 in prize money.

The games are February 10-12.

Jett/Declare Custom appoints four new reps

WINDSOR, CO (BRAIN) Jan 26, 15:01 MT—Jett/Declare Custom has appointed several new independent reps, John Bradley, Jett's national sales manager, announced Thursday.

Tom Gosselin is now handling New England. Owen Simpson reps Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. Dave Sullivan has Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky. Randy Matson represents Jett and Declare in California. Alex Clark is Jett’s Rocky Mountain rep, and Jim Marostica has Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Summit Distribution announces new VP of sales

EAST NORWICH, NY (BRAIN) Jan 26, 15:04 MT—Summit Distribution announced that Scott Parr has joined the company as its new vice president of sales.

Parr has over 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and business leadership. Prior to joining Summit, Parr was vice president of sales for Dorel Industries' footwear group. He also is a former director of sales at Jansport.

"Summit is a world class operator and organization with great growth potential and leadership, and I look forward to the opportunity to contribute and help take the company to the next level and beyond," said Parr.

Tioga sponsors USA Cycling's BMX junior development camps

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (BRAIN) Jan 26, 15:17 MT—Component and tire manufacturer Tioga is a new official sponsor of USa Cycling's BMX Junior Development Program camps.

The two-year sponsorship will see Tioga supply racing tires to the camps through 2013.

The JDP camps are held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.
