SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (BRAIN) Jan 26, 10:53 MT—Registration has opened for Interbike's IBD Summit, to be held at April 17-20 in Monterey, California, in conjunction with the Sea Otter Classic.

The IBD Summit will feature speaker-led sessions on topics including current consumer behavioral trends, tools for improving profitability and insights on how progressive retailers can reach beyond their current enthusiast customer base to find the next bicycle consumer.

“Our goal is to deliver something to the audience that is innovative, engaging and, most importantly, tangible,” said Pat Hus, Interbike’s managing director. “Dealers will leave the Summit feeling empowered with new tools, new insights and new ideas that they can employ immediately in their businesses.”

The event will be held at the Portola Hotel and Conference Center; registration is now open at www.ibdsummit.com.

Speakers and sessions:

  • Kicking off the event will be well-known trendspotter Marian Salzman. Famous for popularizing the term “metrosexual” and a regular commentator on television news programs, she will tackle important consumer trends that will help define the near future for bike retailers.
  • Popular business consultant Dan Mann will lead another session and serve as the moderator of a panel with members of the National Bicycle Dealers Association Profitability Project (P2). The segment is titled “Working Together to Drive Retail Performance” and will explain in detail the 17 Key Performance Indicators that its members have worked to define.
  • Well-known speaker and consultant Graeme Newell will deliver a session on customer loyalty titled “Building Powerful Relationships with Your Most Affluent Customers.”
  • Bringing in business inspiration from outside the bike industry will be the famous Zingerman’s Deli from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Known as much for its corned beef sandwich as for unique business concepts, Zingerman’s has grown into a community of businesses that employs 500 people and generates $35 million in sales. Presenting this session will be Zingerman’s Deli managing partner and cycling enthusiast Rodger Bowser.

Attendees will have opportunities to network with their peers and suppliers at the Bicycle Leadership Conference. Retailers will also be able to take in the consumer bicycle festival and expo with VIP access at the Sea Otter Classic on Friday, April 20.
