Post-Interbike Fondo ride route announced • Four brands team up to promote Cutters Ball during Frostbike • Chris Carmichael is national spokesman for Tour de Cure series

LAS VEGAS, NV (BRAIN) Feb 7, 14:02 MT—The RTC 2012 Viva Bike Vegas Grand Fondo, held the day after the Interbike show closes, will start on the Vegas Strip and include a ride over the Hoover Dam.

The event, organized by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, will be held Saturday, September 22. Interbike is scheduled for Monday-through-Friday, September 17-21.

“We look forward to offering riders a unique and exciting ride from the famous Las Vegas Strip to the iconic Hoover Dam,” said Jacob Snow, RTC general manager. “We are proud to welcome cyclists from across the country and around the world to Las Vegas every year to ride in Viva Bike Vegas.  This year, we are especially pleased to partner with Interbike and invite its exhibitors and attendees to join us for our fifth annual event.”

The will feature 118, 72, and 17-mile course options.

Rider registration is available online at at www.vivabikevegas.com. Proceeds benefit local charities including After-School All-Stars Las Vegas, Nevada Cancer Institute and Communities in Schools of Nevada.

Four brands team up to promote Cutters Ball during Frostbike

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (BRAIN) Feb 7, 14:11 MT—Four Minneapolis bike brands — Handsome Cycles, 02 Rainwear, Twin Six and Banjo Brothers — are working together to host the Cutters Ball during QBP's FrostBike event later this month.

The Cutters Ball is billed as "an underground, unsanctioned celebration of Minneapolis Bike Culture for local cyclists and a free social event for visiting bike shop staff."

The free party takes place in South Minneapolis in the workspace of custom frame builder Peacock Groove, starting at 7 pm on February 18.

One hundred select dealers, culled from the customer lists, media contacts and sales targets from the four brands, will receive a one-of-a-kind screen printed seat cover designed by Twin Six.

Chris Carmichael is national spokesman for Tour de Cure series

ALEXANDRIA, VA (BRAIN) Feb 7, 14:23 MT—Cycling coach and former pro racer Chris Carmichael is this year's national spokesman for the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure. More than 60,000 cyclists are expected to participate in the events this year.

“Diabetes touches so many people’s lives, and exercise and nutrition are important parts of preventing and treating diabetes. I want to help the American Diabetes Association raise critical funds and awareness about this disease through my passion for cycling,” Carmichael said.

Carmichael will be cycling in select Tour events including those in San Diego, Napa Valley, Minneapolis, Denver and Houston.

He also will lead Executive Rides in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley, California.
