What slump? Ski show sells out • Gates Carbon Drive sponsors mountain bike team • Tern sponsors London folding bike race • QBP's outdoor division offers Gibbon slackline product

DENVER, CO (BRAIN) Thursday May 10 2012 11:27 AM MT—Despite a warm winter that dried out retail sales in the wintersports industry, SnowSports Industries America said Thursday that it had sold out exhibitor space at its 2013 show.

The SIA is now keeping a waiting list for companies interested in exhibiting.

"After this season's less than stellar snowfall, it's encouraging to see our industry continue to stay positive and look to the future. Selling out booth space this far in advance certainly speaks to the relevance of the Snow Show and its importance to the entire snow sports community," said SIA chairman Tim Petrick.

SIA will maintain a waiting list for interested companies.

The show is Jan. 31-Feb. 3, 2013, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

Gates Carbon Drive sponsors mountain bike team

DENVER, CO (BRAIN) Thursday May 10 2012 11:19 AM MT—Gates Carbon Drive has created and is sponsoring a singlespeed mountain bike racing team that will compete primarily in Colorado this season.

The mountain bike team complements Gates' cyclocross team.

"The goal of the new team is to increase awareness in the singlespeed race community about the advantages of Carbon Drive, which is lighter than a chain drive, requires no greasy lube and sheds dirt and mud like a bad habit," Gates spokesman Paul Tolme said.

The team will race on Spot Brand Rocker bikes with Crankbrothers and TRP parts, Lazer helmets and Primal race kits.

Tern sponsors London folding bike race

LONDON, U.K. (BRAIN)—Urban folding bike brand Tern has been named title sponsor of the Folding Bike Race to be held June 9 at the IG London Nocturne inner-city race festival.

The Tern Folding Bike Race features a “fancy dress” theme and a Le Mans-style start in which riders who unfold their bikes quickly gain an advantage on their rivals.

Tern entered the U.K. market last year with distributor Evans Cycles.

“We’re very excited by the partnership with Tern and have been impressed by the impact made by the brand since its launch last year. Tern bikes are modern, high-quality and very stylish—so a perfect brand fit with the Nocturne,” said James Pope, organizer of the London Nocturne.

“All the team behind Tern just love the race, and have supported it for many years,” said Matt Davis, Tern sales and marketing director. “The team will be on hand at the event showcasing the range, answering questions and enjoying the great atmosphere.”
