BLOOMINGTON, MN (BRAIN) Monday June 4 2012 2:44 AM MT—Q-Outdoor is distributing Revere Technologies safety and survival equipment. Q-Outdoor is a division of QBP.

Q-Outdoor is offering products from Revere's eGear and Ultimate Survival Technologies lines, including the 60-mph windproof Delta lighter, the Blastmatch firestarter, eGear’s paracord bracelets, Guardian safety lights, and Jolt USB chargers and adapters. All told Q-Outdoor is offering 35 different SKUs

Specialized race teams to use CeramicSpeed bearings

MORGAN HILL, CA (BRAIN) Friday June 1 2012 2:53 PM MT—Two major pro road teams sponsored by Specialized — Omega Pharma–Quick-Step and Astana Pro Team, are using CeramicSpeed bottom bracket bearings in their race bikes. CeramicSpeed is a Danish company that specializes in ceramic bearings for bicycle use.

"We are glad to welcome CeramicSpeed as our supplier of bottom bracket bearings. It is important for us to be surrounded by companies that push the boundaries in performance. Our aim is to help our riders to be faster and we believe CeramicSpeed will be a good ally to help us reach our goal," said Simone Toccafondi, Specialized' road sports marketing manager.


Light & Motion releases bike safety video

MONTEREY, CA (BRAIN) Friday June 1 2012 2:58 PM MT—Light maker Light & Motion has released a new safety video to help educate cyclists about the potential risks when riding at night and crossing intersections.

The release of the video coincides with “Bike to Work Month."


Tour of California racks up 2 million spectators

LOS ANGELES, CA (BRAIN) Friday June 1 2012 3:02 PM MT—Organizers of the Amgen Tour of California said this year's eight-day race drew more than 2 million spectators. Additionally, just prior to the start of the eighth and final stage, 10,000 cycling enthusiasts participated in the first-ever ‘Nissan Ride Before the Pros,’ a free mass participation ride that allowed anyone with a bicycle to ride on the same five-mile downtown Los Angeles circuit that the pros would compete on later in the morning.

Broadcast live in HD on NBC and NBC Sports Network, the race was seen in 216 countries and territories worldwide.

The official race website saw nearly one million visitors during race week, and the official race app, the RadioShack Tour Tracker, was downloaded by 36,500 users, compared to 6,726 users in 2011.


Clif Bar introduces 100% organic fruit and nut bar

EMERYVILLE, CA (BRAIN) Friday June 1 2012 3:10 PM MT—CLIF Kit’s Organic is a new snack bar made with 100 percent organic fruit and nuts.

The company said the bar was inspired by and named for Kit Crawford, co-CEO of Clif Bar & Company. The bars contain just a handful of simple ingredients. The bars are gluten-, soy- and dairy-free and come in four flavors. Each bar offers three-fourths of a serving of fruit. The new bars are available now at natural food stores and grocery stores.
