Selle San Marco designer moves on to Pedaled

Published July 2, 2012

VICENZA, Italy (BRAIN) Tuesday July 3 2012—Selle San Marco brand and design manager Luca Bertoncello is leaving the Italian saddle manufacturer to join Japanese apparel company Pedaled.

Brooks England—part of the Selle Royal family—owns a 60 percent share of Pedaled, which is a collection of high-end, made-in-Japan urban cycling apparel. The five-year-old brand expanded into shops in Western Europe and Russia last year, and is also sold online.

Bertoncello spent five years with Selle San Marco, working on projects such as the Regale, Mantra and Concor saddles. He also created the Dirty line of the saddles from the ground up and worked on the partnerships, special products and limited editions for the Vintage line.

“It’s a hard step to leave a lot of the things you have done so emotionally, but the new challenge I’m going into is really exciting,” Bertoncello said.

He starts at Pedaled on Tuesday.
