Currie to distribute powered front wheel

Published November 21, 2013

SIMI VALLEY, CA (BRAIN) — Currie Technologies is now distributing Belon's Electron Wheel, a 26-inch front wheel with an integrated electric motor. Currie, an Accell Group company, will make the wheel available to dealers starting next month.

The wheel can be installed in any standard 26-inch bike fork in 30 seconds, the company said. It provides motorized pedal assistance without interfering with existing gearing or shifting setup, so it can be used on single-speed or geared bikes.

The Electron Wheel includes an incline sensor that measures slope and applies additional power when needed. A wireless crank sensor ensures that wheel only provides power when the bike is being pedaled.

The wheel will retail for $999. Currie can be contacted at dealersales@currietech.com.
