MOORPARK, Calif. (BRAIN) — BMX legend Leigh Ramsdell will be joining Mongoose as as team manager for all riders this year, the company announced this week. Ramsdell rode professionally from 1993 to 2005, for sponsors including Eastern Bikes, DK Bicycles, and Play Clothing among others.

He has also played host, interviewer, and reporter for media outlets including RedBull.com, ESPN X-Games and Mat Hoffman's Crazy Freakin' Bikers series.

He said making an appearance in Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX video game was one of his proudest accomplishments.

"Being a part of Mongoose is amazing," said Ramsdell. "It's a brand that I grew up with, and a brand that has been a part of BMX for 40 years. That says a lot! Plus, they have a kick ass team that covers every aspect of the sport! I look forward to working with the riders and everyone behind Mongoose."

Originally from North Carolina, Ramsdell hopped on his first BMX bike at age 14  and entered his first competition a year later.

"Rider support is a huge priority for Mongoose in 2014," said Dave Duecker, Mongoose global brand director. "We're excited to bring a BMX veteran like Ramsdell on board. He is someone who knows the industry inside and out."
