Louis Garneau enacts MAP policy in Canada

Published September 30, 2014

NEWPORT, Vt. (BRAIN) — Louis Garneau Sports is instituting a minum advertised price policy in Canada, effective Nov. 1. The company enacted a similar policy in the U.S. in 2012.

The MAP policy will apply to all the brand's product categories including cycling, triathlon and Nordic apparel, helmets, shoes, bags, snowshoes, and accessories. It will apply to all retailers, including catalogs and internet retailers, who sell Louis Garneau Sports products in Canada.

“We believe that certain discounting practices are not only detrimental to the Louis Garneau brand name and image, but furthermore, it threatens the sustainability of our independent bicycle dealer network,” said the company's Canadian sales director, Pierre Grenier.

As part of the new policy, Louis Garneau will also prohibit the sales of any Louis Garneau products listed on the current Louis Garneau pricelist through internet auction sites (such as eBay.com) and through Amazon.ca or Amazon affiliate sites.

The company will use Channel IQ to monitor compliance with the policy.

Dealers can get a copy of the policy at gin.louisgarneau.com or by contacting their Louis Garneau customer service representative.
