SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — BRG added a Buy Local Now button to the Giro, Blackburn and Bell websites during Interbike last month. The program coordinated by SmartEtailing sends online shoppers to the brands' nearby retailers.

"Local bicycle retailers are the heart of this industry," said BRG's senior vice president of global sales,. Bernie Doering. "We've been working on all fronts to find ways to help them find success in what are some pretty dynamic times. Buy Local Now is a program that nearly all of our retailers use, so it was a pretty straight-forward choice to partner with the program."

Since the Buy Local Now program began several years ago, it has generated an estimated $10,700,000 in sales. More than 1.8 million consumers have used Buy Local Now to find retailers stocking the product they were interested in.

SmartEtailing's Mark Graff said helmets, shoes, racks, lights and locks — all products offered by BRG — are among the most popular search terms entered by consumers at the store websites hosted by SmartEtailing. "BRG's brands are leaders in these categories and by having Buy Local Now buttons in their websites we expect continued strong sales referrals for their local specialty retailers," said Graff.

Authorized Giro, Blackburn and Bell retailers are listed for free in the Buy Local Now results. If any of these stores wish to report their actual in-stock inventory for higher ranking in the results for their locale they can do so for $30 per month. The fee also includes the stores in the Buy Local Now results for any of the other participating brands that the stores carry.
