SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (BRAIN) — WD-40's bike division has hired former professional mountain bike racer Robin Baloochi as promotions manager.

"We're continuing to grow the bike-care category for our bike shop customers around the U.S.," said Mike Irwin, managing partner of WD-40 BIKE. "Robin brings the industry knowledge, contacts, and experience to help make WD-40 BIKE a bigger part of the cycling community."

Baloochi had a 10-year career as a professional athlete in downhill, slalom and 4X. After retiring from racing, Baloochi returned to school and obtained his B.A. in Advertising from the University of Oregon.

"From the day I went back to college in 2006, I set out with a goal to get the tools necessary to grow in my career, then join a company that shares my passion for bicycles; I feel I've found that with WD-40 BIKE.," said Baloochi. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to dovetail my passion and career."

"We're thrilled to have Robin on board with us," Irwin said. "His industry knowledge and background make him the perfect fit for managing our sponsorships, events and customers. Promoting our marketing activities is core to our business, and Robin has the skills to make it all happen."
