Trips for Kids founder Marilyn Price to retire

Published December 3, 2015

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (BRAIN) — Marilyn Price, the founder of the Trips for Kids organization, will retire as that group's executive director at the end of the year. She will continue on the group's board of directors as founder and ambassador.

"With the dedication and help of the Trips for Kids community of partners, donors and volunteers, we have achieved much greater success than I ever imagined when I started our program 27 years ago," Price said in a letter to supporters Thursday. "Since then Trips for Kids has enriched the lives of over 145,000 young people in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the continent. I am incredibly gratified by the impact we've had. But we still have work to do."

Kim Baenisch, currently the group's director of operations, will be named acting executive director, overseeing the Marin chapter. Baenisch will also work with the Trips for Kids board on building the foundation and infrastructure to support national growth plans.

Price has been honored by many groups inside and outside the bike industry, including the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, which gave her a Community Leadership Award in 2010.
