Saris Cycling Group's brand advocate program involves IBDs

Published December 31, 2015

MADISON, Wis. (BRAIN) — Saris Cycling Group this year is creating consumer advocate programs for each of its brands, Saris, CycleOps and PowerTap. The program involves local bike shops, with consumer applicants to the program being asked to provide a bike shop as a reference.

"SCG believes an advocate's connection to their IBD is an untapped way to help business grow at the local level. A big part of SCG's goal with these advocate programs is to encourage advocates to be out in the local community, driving sales, increasing foot traffic and enhancing visibility for the SCG family of brands within the IBD," the company said in a statement.

Applications for the program are being accepted until Jan. 17.

Heather Fortune, director of SCG marketing, said, "We know that the way people are finding product information is shifting. We believe that creating a dedicated community of people collectively telling our story both online and offline has great potential for the growth and visibility for our brands. This new program is our first attempt at this. We hope to can make this program great with the participation and feedback from our trusted dealer network."

SCG said its research shows that 77 percent of consumers are more likely to buy a new product when learning about it from friends or family.
