Brompton Bicycles runs video ad in Times Square

Published November 22, 2016

NEW YORK CITY (BRAIN) — Brompton Bicycle is running a 2-minute ad spot in Times Square. The campaign, the brand's first outdoor ad in the U.S., is aimed at city residents and visitors. The U.K.-based brand opened an office in Brooklyn last year.

The 2-minute ad spot was made by The Insurrection, a New York City-based creative and research agency.

"It marks an exciting step for the company and is testament to the growing desirability and demand for Brompton bikes from Americans. We're hoping to reach new and wider audiences by running this outdoor campaign, inspiring more people to get on a bike to explore the city around them," said Katharine Horsman, the general manager of Brompton Bicycle North America.

The video was filmed by artist Tom Leveritt, who said, "I've been a Brompton owner and evangelist for over ten years and first brought one to New York as my carry-on luggage in 2005 ... I've found that in New York, a Brompton is as good as a puppy in terms of getting attention. I wanted to celebrate this camaraderie with this free-wheeling, documentary-style advert to encourage more people to get on board with Brompton."

The ad campaign will run at 1500 Broadway at 43rd Street in Times Square until Jan, 15. The company said the ad will support wider marketing initiatives that will kick off in early 2017 with the launch of a special edition Brompton.
