SAN DIEGO, CA (BRAIN)—Kimberlee Caledonia passed away on March 19 after courageously battling brain cancer for more than two years. She was 45 years old.

GARDENA, CA (BRAIN)—One of the early leaders of the bicycle clothing industry, John Kucharik Sr, died recently at 93.

Kucharik Sr. was the founder of Kucharik Bicycle Clothing in Gardena, California. He also owned a bike shop, and served the industry for more than 50 years.

WATERLOO, WI (BRAIN)—The Milwaukee businessman who in 1976 created one of the most iconic and successful bike brands to ever grace shop floors, Trek, passed away late Monday night.

He was 73 years old.

WILKES-BARRE, PA (BRAIN)—Loren Sickler, a five-decade fixture in the Pennsylvania bicycle industry, passed away on Feb. 10.

He was 95.

Sickler’s brother, Leo, opened a bike shop called Sickler’s in 1933, and in 1947 Loren Sickler joined the business.

TRUCKEE, CA (BRAIN)—Jim Taylor, the man who founded Jet Lites, died Monday morning in a skiing accident at Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe.

Jet Lites has been in business for nine years making high-end lighting for cyclists.

LONGVIEW, WA (BRAIN)—A Washington podiatrist suspected of stealing $56,000 worth of high-end bikes in eight states has committed suicide.

Dr. Jacob Bos, 36, took his own life on Feb. 23 while in the psychiatric ward of St. John’s Hospital in Longview, WA, said Longview Police Sgt. Mike Hallowell.
