Velocity USA introduces disc-specific road rim at Frostbike

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (BRAIN) — Velocity USA is introducing its first disc-specific road rim at QBP's Frostbike event this weekend. 

The Aileron rim is made in Florida by Velocity. The 480-gram rim is 28mm tall and designed to be aerodynamic with clinchers from 23mm to 28mm wide. The rim has a 25mm outer width and 20mm inner width. It can be set up tubeless with Velocity's Velotape. 

The Aileron is available in black or polished finishes, in 24-, 28-, and 32-hole drillings. MSRP is $126.99. The Aileron will also be available as a complete wheelset, in Pro and Comp configurations, hand-built in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Pro and Comp wheelsets use 24 Sapim CX-Ray or DT Swiss Competition spokes front and rear with Velocity's Convertible Disc rear hub and Lightweight Disc or Convertible Disc front hub. The Pro wheel weighs 1620 grams per set and retails for $987.99. The Comp weighs 1730 grams and retails for $732.99.
