Club Ride expands fat bike focus in 2015-16 winter clothing line

KETCHUM, Idaho (BRAIN) — Club Ride Apparel is expanding its 2015-2016 Fall-Winter line to further embrace fat biking, the company said.

It will be the third season that Club Ride has offered items designed and marketed for fat biking.  The new line has increased from 31 products in 14/15 Fall-Winter to 45 products in 15/16 Fall-Winter, mainly due to adding more women’s apparel.  The company said this has resulted in a 40 percent increase in dealer orders for female product over the previous year.

“We are really excited to be the first cycling apparel company to offer fat bike-specific clothing and the leaders in this segment of the market going into our third season. We have embraced this alternative winter activity by offering apparel that meets the needs of cold weather riding, such as technical pants, wicking flannels and base layers,” said Scott Montgomery, Club Ride's CEO.

Club Ride has partnered with fat bike-maker Borealis on recent co-promotions. Borealis bikes are featured in Club Ride's 14/15 Fall-Winter and 15/16 Fall-Winter catalogs and lifestyle images. Club Ride also attended the 2015 Fat Bike Nationals in Utah in February and has sponsored fat bike events at Grand Targhee Resort, Sun Valley and the Stanley Winterfest.

“Based on the Leisure Trends data presented at the 2015 Winter Outdoor Retailer show, it’s clear the action sports industry is enthusiastic about fat biking.  People are aspiring to have an active outdoor lifestyle year-round and not just in warm climates. Our goal is to help retailers expand apparel sales beyond the traditional spring-fall season. By offering versatile, warm and functional clothing that can be worn on and off the bike, we can help enable people to get out on their bikes and other winter activities.”
