Felt to unveil new 'aggressive' 27.5 model at Sea Otter

IRVINE, Calif. (BRAIN) — Felt Bicycles continues to expand its offroad model line with a new aggressive 27.5 model to be officially unveiled this week at the Sea Otter Classic.

The Decree LE is a limited edition model that showcases Felt's collaboration with component makers DVO and Spank that should appeal to more aggressive riders and rugged trails.

"Brands like DVO and Spank are vendors that we haven't worked with previously, but we've long admired their products and we wanted to collaborate with them," said Felt's mountain bike product manager, Rob Pauley. "And SRAM has put a lot of effort into Eagle, so we're very excited to feature it on the Decree LE. We also wanted to do something extra special for this limited edition bike. On our high-end frames that are crafted from TeXtreme carbon fiber, we typically utilize decals and a clear coat, no paint, in order to showcase the unique properties of TeXtreme. But for the Decree LE, we wanted a bit of color while still showcasing the TeXtreme carbon. So it features a green-tinted clear coat, which makes for a uniquely beautiful bike."

Key components on the Decree LE include a DVO Diamond fork and new DVO Topaz rear shock. Its cockpit is comprised of a Spank Oozy Trail stem and Oozy 760 Trail handlebar with Spank's Vibrocore fatigue-damping technology. Rolling duties are also handled by Spank in the form of the component maker's new Oozy Trail 345 wheels, which feature a 30mm internal rim width. They're wrapped in Maxxis Minion DHR II tires. The Decree LE also sports a KS LEV Integra dropper seatpost topped with a WTB Volt Race saddle. Finally, the Decree LE is built with SRAM's new Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, which sports a single 34T chainring paired with a 10-50T cassette.

"Each of the current Decree models, whether it's the Decree FRD or the Decree 30, is targeted towards all-around riding," said Pauley. "With the Decree, you can very easily ride cross-country trails, and you can very easily ride more aggressive, rocky terrain. We wanted to fit the new Decree LE with components that are targeted a little more towards all-mountain or enduro riding. So the Decree LE was designed specifically to take more of a beating."

The Decree LE retails for $6,499 and is available in four sizes. More information: feltbicycles.com.
