Dahon Recalls Faulty Seatpost Bolt

Published December 26, 2007

DUARTE, CA (BRAIN)—Dahon has issued a voluntary recall of the seatpost bolt on full-size 2007 models. The seatpost bolt can break under use and may pose a potential safety hazard. The bolt should be replaced immediately.

The recall affects bolt-on seatposts branded “BioLogic PostPump” with 27.2-millimeter diameter. The seatpost was equipped on 2007 model year Dahon Matrix, Jack, Espresso, Cadenza, Tournado and Smooth Hound bicycles.

The steel material for the bolt doesn’t meet strength requirements. Dahon believes that the issue only affects a few batches of bicycles, but 15,485 units could potentially be affected. Because the seatpost manufacturer has not isolated the problem bolts to specific batches, Dahon will provide replacement bolts for all 2007 models that use this seatpost.

All Dahon distributors worldwide will receive replacement seatpost bolts and provide them to dealers upon request. Retailers should obtain replacement parts and instructions from their distributor.
