Rapha Cycle Club in New York hosts LeMond collection

Published February 20, 2014

NEW YORK CITY (BRAIN) — Rapha's Cycle Club New York store is hosting an exhibition of Greg LeMond memoribilia, which opened with a VIP party attended by Greg LeMond last Thursday.

Despite continuing winter storms, the event was packed, Rapha's Chris DiStefano said.

"The exhibition came about as we talked about a theme we've had running through the Rapha offices since some planning meetings late in 2013. That theme is 'Optimism,'" DiStefano said. "We have our minds on the early days of spring and the promise it holds for riding and racing. We thought about racers who had optimism, built off of it each year, and this thinking brought us to a film we made with Greg LeMond in 2012."

The LeMond display includes bikes, jerseys and other memoribilia from LeMond's career. It also includes a display of LeMond's current line of bikes. "Greg loves the sport of cycling, yes, but he also has a deep fondness for the bicycle itself," DiStefano said.

LeMond family friend Ron Woodard delivered and installed the collection at the store. The exhibition runs through March 16, the final day of Paris-Nice. The Cycle Club is in the Meatpacking District, at 64 Gansevoort Street.
