Landry's scores Retailer of the Year prize at Interbike Awards

LAS VEGAS (BRAIN) — The Boston-based chain Landry's Bicycles received this year's Retailer of the Year award at Thursday night's second annual Interbike Awards Gala here.

Landry's has seven locations in the Boston area. The business dates to 1922 — it was established by the Landry family, and then run by the Henry family from the 1970s until 2010, when it transitioned to an employee-owned model.

While Landry's received the top overall retailer honor at the IB Awards, other stores were recognized for their excellence in specialty areas.

New York City's Bicycle Habitat won the Best Urban/Lifestyle Shop award, and ATA Cycle of Concord, Mass., was named the Best Pro Road Shop. In the Best Mountain Bike Shop category, there was a tie, with Absolute Bikes of Salida, Colo., and Bryson City Bicycles of Bryson City, N.C. sharing the honors. Pedal Chic of Greenville, S.C., was named the Best Female Friendly Shop.

In the supplier categories, Tifosi Optics was recognized for Highest Brand Profitability to the LBS, measured in unit turns, while Lazer was named the Highest Brand Profitability in dollars. Kona was recognized for Best Service to the LBS and Bern Unlimited for Best Brand Value to the Consumer. Specialized won for Best Brand Value to the LBS and QBP won for Best Distributor Service to the LBS.

Finally, the NBDA awarded its Signature Award to the Efficient Velo Tools.
