Some IB Award nominations announced, including bike shop categories

Online voting for winners has now begun.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (BRAIN) — Interbike has announced the first round of IB Award nominees for product, retailer and triathlon categories, including the bicycle retailer nominees, which were vetted by Bicycle Retailer & Industry News editors.

The IB Awards will be held during September's Interbike expo in Las Vegas.

The retailer nominations were determined by an open industry online ballot then vetted by the BRAIN editorial staff. Categories for the retailer awards include Best Urban/Lifestyle Shop, Best Pro Road Shop, Best Mountain Bike Shop, Best Women's/Female Friendly Shop, Best Omnichannel Retailer and 2016 Retailer of the Year. All the nominees are listed below, along with a link to vote for the final winners. Voting closes July 29.

Hi-Torque Publications, the publisher of Mountain Bike Action, Road Bike Action and Electric Bike Action, chose the nominees for Mountain Bike of the Year, Road Bike of the Year, E-Bike of the Year and several other categories. Products nominated were chosen by the editorial teams at Hi-Torque Publications after testing and review during the 2016 product year (July 2015 through June 2016).

Triathlon Business International chose the nominees for the male and female International Triathlete of the Year, Breakthrough North American Triathlete of the Year and Triathlon Innovation of the Year. Nominees include Daniella Ryf, Jesse Thomas, the Torpedo Versa and more. The athlete nominees were selected for performance in races between October 15, 2015, and July 31, 2016. Triathlon innovation of the year products were selected from model year 2016 products that were available for review by the TBI board of directors between July 1, 2015 and June 15, 2016.

Nominees in the other categories will be announced in July (advocacy and supplier) and August (athlete).
