Bay Area retailer 6Fifteen Cyclery re-opens as Giant Partner Store

DANVILLE, Calif. (BRAIN) — People often ask Dave and Sue Dalton, owners of 6Fifteen Cyclery, about their shop's name: think 6:15 p.m. It's the roll-out time for the daily group ride with friends.

6Fifteen recently celebrated a grand re-opening as a Giant Partner Store. The staff worked with Giant’s retail services team to complete the new build-out with Giant and Liv men’s and women’s bikes and gear.

“If you would have told me that they could completely transform my store in a week, I wouldn’t have believed it, but the team delivered big time,” said Dave Dalton, who opened the 2,500 square-foot store three years ago.

“I could not be happier with the current state of the store. I actually have more floor space, more bikes on display, and the store is more open and airy. This is due mostly to the new layout by Giant, but we also did some other construction ourselves, including a roll-up front door that has had a huge impact.”

Dave’s vision for 6Fifteen was always to make it more than a shop. He likes to call it a “home away from home” for any cyclist looking to hang out, share stories, and grab a coffee or cold beverage before or after a ride. The store regularly hosts group rides, four or five per week, and the Sunday rides consistently attract 50 to 60 people. It also supports local charity/fun rides with sag and mechanical support, and assists in the area’s annual Bike to Work Day.

Local Giant sales rep Mike Stewart helped spark the Daltons' motivation to transform the shop into a GRP store.

“I was very close to signing with another bike manufacturer until Giant was highly recommended by another local bike shop,” Dave says. “I was won over by Mike Stewart, whose delivery and responsiveness is a cut above any other rep I deal with. I work with people I trust. That is what led me to being a partner store, and honestly I can’t imagine a world without Giant in it.”
