SAN CARLOS, Calif. (BRAIN) — Mobile bike shop franchiser Beeline Bikes has launched its first location in Indiana in an agreement with the well-known regional retailer Bicycle Garage Indy.

Beeline Bikes Powered by Bicycle Garage Indy is owned and operated by Randy Clark and Scott Helvie.

"Bicycle Garage Indy has been in business since 1983, and we pride ourselves on having the most knowledgeable service departments in Indianapolis. The opportunity with Beeline Bikes was a seamless fit with our current business model, offering an additional component that will help us better serve our customers," said Helvie. "Our new Beeline service provides the convenience we were missing before, so our customers can get their bike fixed whenever and wherever they are."

An Indiana native, Scott Helvie discovered his passion for bikes in high school, which carried over into college. After graduating from Purdue University with a bachelor's in economics, Helvie began looking for jobs in the bicycling business. He worked for Bicycle Garage Indy for about five years before joining Giant Bicycle as territory manager where he worked for 10 years. In 2014, BGI's founder and chief executive officer, Randy Clark, approached Helvie about transitioning the shop's ownership to the former employee. With more than 15 years of industry experience under his belt, Helvie now co-owns BGI with Clark and manages day-to-day operations at BGI's chief operations officer.

Beeline Bikes Powered by Bicycle Garage Indy will assemble and deliver any new bike purchased on the Raleigh Bikes USA and Diamondback Bikes websites in Central Indiana for no cost.
