Austin retailer merges with Texas Endurance Sports

Published March 13, 2015

WACO, Tex. (BRAIN) – Texas Endurance Sports, which operates five Bicycle World and BW Multi-Sport Pro Shop retail locations throughout the state, has completed a merger with Austin multisport retailer Jack Murray, owner of Jack & Adam’s Bicycles.

Murray will join the executive team as president of retail operations for TES. There are no plans to rebrand Jack & Adam’s, or change the product lineup, and Murray said that nothing will change for loyal Jack & Adam’s customers.

“We will continue to remain active in the Austin community hosting weekly rides, clinics, and various event sponsorships,” Murray said.

Todd Behringer and Scott James formed TES in June 2014. TES acquired the Bicycle World chain in the Houston area in August 2014, and opened a fifth store in Magnolia, Tex., last fall. Another store in Southlake, northwest of Dallas, will open this fall.

“We see the Austin and Texas Hill Country Market as a vast opportunity to expand the Bicycle World culture and brand,” said James, senior VP and chief marketing officer at TES.

Murray said that the merger would also mean improved health and retirement benefits for Jack & Adam’s staff. Longtime employee Angie Balentine will remain general manager of Jack & Adam’s, and an additional management person has also joined the team.
