Conte’s Bike Shop honored by Virginia trade group

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (BRAIN) — Conte’s Bike Shop was recognized as Retailer of the Year by The Retail Alliance, a nonprofit trade association serving retailers in greater Hampton Roads, Virginia.

The Retail Alliance serves the interests of retailers throughout the cities of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Newport News, Hampton, Portsmouth Chesapeake and Suffolk as well as portions of the Hampton Roads MSA, with a population of over 1.7 million.

“Their attention to customer service, merchandising, and dedication to creating a fun retail environment made Conte’s well deserving of this award,” said Ray Mattes, CEO and president of the Retail Alliance.

Conte’s has also been recognized by the National Bicycle Dealers Association in its annual list of America’s Best Bike Shops.

“When my father started the business in 1957, he had a vision for its future, and this coveted award is a testimony to our stewardship of his vision,” said David Conte. “We thank The Retail Alliance for this honor.”

Conte’s Bike Shop has stores in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Newport News, Williamsburg, Richmond and Falls Church, Virginia. In 2015, it launched its private-label brand of bikes and accessories called 1957 Brand.
