Retail panel weighs in on Reno show

Published October 11, 2017

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. (BRAIN) — The October 1 issue of Bicycle Retailer included our regular State of Retail feature, where we ask our panel of retailers from around the country about an issue facing the industry. In the October issue, we asked about Interbike's decision to hold its next trade show in Reno, Nevada.

Here we are sharing one of the responses, from Karen Wiener, the co-owner of The New Wheel in the San Fransico Bay Area. Feel free to weigh in yourself in the comments section.

Q: Interbike has announced that it will move the trade show to Reno, Nevada in 2018. What do you think of this move?

"Since we opened in 2010, Interbike has been an important part of our year, offering us the opportunity to take focused time outside of the shop to meet with our retailer and supplier partners and make plans for the following year. The electric bicycle industry is at an interesting juncture, with great challenges and huge opportunities ahead. Retail and bicycle service are also in a state of flux and this is our chance to get together and steer that change. My hope is that the new venue will offer a breath of fresh air, where the best of the e-bike industry can sit down and focus on new and creative ways to build enduring business models and strong relationships that will foster the long-term growth of this transportation and sport market."
