BTAC Joins Retail Council of Canada

Published October 7, 2008

NEWMARKET, Ontario (BRAIN)—The Bicycle Trade Association of Canada (BTAC) has joined the Retail Council of Canada (RCC) and 16 other associations in the new coalition against the changes to credit card fees and INTERAC fees under a coalition.

The coalition has a new Web site, www.stopstickingittous.com.

It is important that all the specialty bike retailers in Canada take an active role in these upcoming challenges.

Here’s how you can help:

• Visit www.stopstickingittous.com and sign a petition about credit card fees. Your response to four short questions will help us build a strong case against these unfair fees.

• Share this letter and the Web petition with neighboring businesses, particularly merchants who are not BTAC members and will not receive this letter directly. This issue is larger than the bike sector and affects anyone who accepts payments by credit cards.

• Watch for regular updates. BTAC will keep retailers informed of its efforts and let you know what other actions you can take as we push forward.
