United Bicycle Supply Still Alive and Well

Published January 23, 2009

ASHLAND, OR (BRAIN)—United Bicycle Parts may have gone under, but United Bicycle Supply is still in business.

“We’re still alive and kicking,” said Peter Bateman, assistant to the general manager of United Bicycle Supply, in response to concern that UBS may have fallen victim to the slow economy as well.

Bateman said although the two companies have similar names, they are entirely separate entities. UBS was founded in 1975 in Ashland, Oregon as a tool supply company. A former employee of United Bicycle Supply spun off UBP as a separate company in 1984.

UBS distributes Sturmey Archer and stocks a selection of mainstream parts and accessories. It just mailed out 5,000 copies of its 2009 catalog to dealers across the country.
