Published September 15, 2009

WILMINGTON, MA (BRAIN)—Pedro's has hired Matthew Simpson as its global operations director.

Simpson possesses 14 years of experience working for top brands within their respective industries, like Stonyfield Farms, Grace Darex and New England Confectionery Co.

Simpson is known globally for building grassroots supply chain and sourcing organizations by using a blend of mainstream corporate sourcing building blocks, combined with a keen, first-hand knowledge of small business, which he learned while working for his family's business throughout his collegiate years.

"Pedro's is a tidy little team," said Chris Zigmont, chief executive officer of Pedro's. "Like any organization, we're constantly growing and improving both personally and as an outfit. The addition of Matt Simpson to our group represents a significant gain in our supply chain and logistics prowess and equips us to better supply the market within the conditions of this new economy."

Now Simpson will call upon his strong background in sustainable sourcing to build sustainable business infrastructures for Pedro's. His personal values and professional acumen have been trained upon this vocation, which makes him an ideal fit for Pedro's but he's got extra talent as well.

"The guy can turn a pedal too, which has boosted the lunchtime ride by three miles per hour," Zigmont said.

Simpson lives in southern New Hampshire with his wife, Kerri, and their three kids. He is a competitive cyclist and an environmental advocate, who tends to the family's organic garden in his spare time.
