Felt, Garmin Partner for Retail Promotion

IRVINE, CA (BRAIN)—Felt Bicycles has partnered with Garmin on an exclusive new promotion being offered to Felt retailers.

A limited edition Felt AR5 model—unavailable until now and available only through this promo—will be offered as a special package that includes the new Garmin Edge 500 GPS-based cycling computer at no additional price.

Felt and Garmin are both key sponsors of the Garmin-Transitions ProTour road racing team. Felt conceived this new promotion, which features a special in-store display, to help retailers attract customers with an exclusive Felt road bike and the recently introduced Edge 500.

“We came up with this idea of a limited edition bike to help Garmin launch the Edge 500,” said Felt national sales director John Georger. “We wanted to showcase our Aero Road frame design and match it up with the hottest new technology from Garmin.”

Featuring an aerodynamic High Modulus carbon fiber frameset, a Shimano 105 drivetrain and a deluxe package of Felt parts including the Aero R4 wheelset, the AR5 has an MSRP of $2,999. Weighing just 2 ounces and featuring a high-sensitivity GPS receiver that monitors speed, distance and other analytics, Edge 500 requires no calibration, can be switched easily between bicycles and connects wirelessly with ANT+ compatible power meters. Also, Edge 500 users can see this data on maps and charts for free at Garmin Connect, where 20 million activities are saved, studied and shared. The base version retails for $249, but the special upgrade version included in this promo also features cadence and a heart-rate monitor, and retails for $349.

“Using feedback from the best focus group imaginable—the ProTour cyclists of Team Garmin-Transitions—we’ve developed a lightweight cycling computer that’s powerful enough for the pros yet simple enough for beginners,” said Stan Brajer, Garmin’s director of fitness sales and marketing. “Working with Felt to package our Edge 500 with their AR5 brings the benefits of the strong collaboration we enjoy on the ProTour to your neighborhood Felt dealer.”

Also included with the promotion is a special financing deal that Felt has arranged with its partner GE Money. Retailers will be able to offer reduced-rate consumer financing for either six months or 12 months.

“Our partnerships with Garmin and GE Money have become strong marketing tools for our dealers,” Georger added. “Bringing these elements together gives our dealers something truly special and unique to kick off their spring selling season.”
