Published March 16, 2011

BOSTON, MA (BRAIN)—New England Athletic has hired Matthew Shoemaker and Jess Hughston to the agency.

Andy Ewas, principle at New England Athletic said, “Matt and I met about ten years ago working for a nationally renowned IBD in the Boston area, where he taught me much about the business end of the bike shop. He's greatly influenced the way I conduct my sales agency today, and his experience as a buyer at one of the nation’s largest outdoor retailers will only help to create the best sales agency in New England.” Shoemaker will be covering the northern New England states of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, while Ewas will continue to cover Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, as well as key accounts for the entire territory.

With the increase in sales volume has come an additional increase in administrative work, therefore Jess Hughston has been brought on as the office manager for the agency.

“With Jess keeping track of the details at the office, Matt and I will be freed up to spend more time meeting face to face with our dealers, something I know they all appreciate. It’s not often that a win-win situation presents itself,” Ewas said, ”but the addition of these new hires is sure to be a big benefit to our dealers, our brands, and to the agency itself.”

After more than 15 years in the bicycle industry, Ewas started New England Athletic in 2008. Based out of Boston, and covering the New England territory, the agency represents brands such as Sidi, Castelli, Speedplay and Santa Cruz Bicycles.
